What's Happening at Paper Arts in September?

Hello friends....it's September 1st and here we are at the beginning of fall.  We are definitely living in a crazy, unpredictable time and man is 2020 proving to provide more cliffhangers than a bad season finale of Dallas (who shot JR?)--for you younger folks, you probably won't get that, I'm sorry.  Anyway, by now I'm sure that you have heard that the move that I alluded to in the email a couple weeks ago did not happen.  There was some non-negotiable changes to the lease when it came down to it that we found out about at the 11th hour that differed from what was verbally promised and The Accountant and I felt it was best to let that space slide by and not move there.  I am confident that we will find our new space soon (our current lease is up in January so the days are ticking by quickly for us to find the future home of Paper Arts).  I've had some of you question why we are looking for a new space and so here is the Cliff Notes version...#1: we have outgrown our current space.  #2: There are some maintenance issues that are not being remedied in our current space that are dealbreakers for staying long-term.  #3: If you have ever tried to get a parking spot in our parking lot during one of our events (obviously during non-Covid items) you know that our parking lot is not big enough for me and all of my neighbors so we need better parking.  So there it is in a nutshell.  Now, on to other stuff.

I've been watching the Covid 19 numbers daily and they are still increasing (and likely will continue to do so as long as folks don't properly social distance, wear masks, wash your hands regularly, and all of the other things that need to be done to bring the cases down in our state).  So....here we are at the beginning of another month and we are making the decision to continue our shopping by appointment process.  As always, you can book your shopping appointment on our website here:
Book a Shopping Appointment Here

Also, just a reminder, you can't book same day shopping appointments online.  If you want to do a same day shopping appointment, please either email or call the store and I will do my best to work you in where we have gaps in our appointments.  You may have to wait in your car for a few minutes, but so far I have been able to work 95% of the folks in on same day.

Heads up...I will not be at the store tomorrow until 11:30.  I have an appointment at 10am that I need to tend to before coming to the store.

We have tons of new products in the store and while I am working hard to get them all uploaded to our website, many are not uploaded, so I encourage you to make an appointment to come check it all out.  I'm sanitizing and cleaning between each appointment time so it can be as clean and safe for each person.

We also have several classes this month that are going to be fun.  Here's a sneak peek at the September Class schedule.  As a reminder, all classes are conducted virtually via zoom.  You can find out more information about each class by clicking on the blue link in the title.

One of the recent additions to the store is the All People All Nations collection.  This is an older collection but it is beautifully bright and very pertinent to the current times and this collection will go quickly.

Attic Charm by Blue Fern Studios is another new collection that we have in the store and it is amazingly beautiful.

I hope that each of you have a blessed week and that you will make an appointment to come shop with us.

What's New at 632?

Friends!!!  There is a ton of stuff going on right now and tons of new product in the store.  I want to encourage you to make an appointment to come in and shop in a safe and secure environment this week.  Just for your own peace of mind, here is what I am doing to make sure that you have a clean and safe environment...yes we have appointments because let's face it, my store is not big.  If I didn't have appointments it would be hard to control the number of people in here and still keep the recommended 6 foot social distancing required for safety.  In addition to the appointments to help with social distancing, masks are required to be worn covering your mouth and nose fully while in the store.  AND I purposely leave a 30 minute space between appointment times so that I can wipe down surfaces with cleaner and properly sanitize the common areas.  I am doing this as much for your safety and health as mine.  None of us can afford to be sick and I value your health and well being too much to risk it.  I hope you feel the same way too.

So to book an appointment, here are the links of what is currently, at this moment in time available this week:

Now on to bigger news...Yes we are moving.  I can't say where to just yet (a bit superstitious and don't want to jinx it until I have the key to the new place in my hand).  But I can tell you that it is here in the Edmond area in a close radius to our current location.  It is a bigger location and a better location for parking and lots of other things and I have been closely looking for a new place for when our lease ends and this one landed in my lap when I was actually looking at a different property (God is funny that way).  So I'd appreciate everybody's patience while the final details get ironed out and prayers that it happens ASAP.  So, that is coming up (hence the need to close the store down after this weekend for a few days).  I promise I will be doing a HUGE facebook live to show you where the new place is the minute I get the key in my hand.

We have 15 new collections this week....everything from Breakfast food to Horses to Pet Loss...Make an appointment and come see us!

What's New at Paper Arts this week?

This year is definitely a different type of year.  I mean, how crazy is it that we are almost to fall already?  For the longest time it seemed that we were crawling along and couldn't get out of the month of April and nobody knew what day it was or what week and when was the last time we washed our hair, lol?  Then May hit and things seemed to speed up a bit more...and once we hit June and July...it's like, there went the summer!  It's almost over already.  Sheesh.  But, this year, even with it's craziness has led to some amazing things.  Some of the amazing things have been painful (growth always is) and some of them have been fun but they are all always good.  God is always good.  All the time.

Speaking of growth, Paper Arts has grown.  We have wiggled and squiggled and crammed as much as possible in our little space at 632 W Edmond Road and we are still growing.  If the pandemic did one thing for me, it was that it allowed me to sharpen and tighten the vision for the store and what is coming in to focus is something that you guys will absolutely love.  When I look at it and see what is coming to fruition, it takes my breath away, in a good way.  Our little store is breaking at the seams and I can't wait to show what is coming up for us.  (Watch our social media later this week and possibly even your inbox because another email "may" be coming this week.)

I hope each of you reading this email knows how truly blessed I am that you take the time to read the emails, watch the facebook live videos, follow us on our social media, book the shopping appointments, come to see Shadow & I, take our classes, and allow us to be a part of your life.  Thank you.

********************************************************************
Weekly update:
We are still shopping in the store by appointments and we require that you wear a face mask covering your nose and mouth at all times while in the store.  We have hand sanitizer at the entryway for your use as well.  We also are still doing curbside delivery.

Tuesday night -- Facebook Live at 6:45pm
This facebook live will show a few flashback items and some new items as well.  It will not show ALL of the new items as I do try to keep these live videos to 30-45 minutes and to show all of the new items would cause it to be hours long (we are truly receiving that much new product weekly!).  The best way to find out what is new in the store is to make a shopping appointment.  You can schedule a shopping appointment by logging on to our website at Schedule a Shopping Appointment
and pick whichever day you want and then follow the process through (it's like you are purchasing something so you will add it to your cart, but there is no cost).  You will know if you successfully signed up for your chosen time because you will receive an Order Confirmation email that has your date you chose on it.

The product shown on the Tuesday night Facebook Live will be available on our website under New Products before I go to bed on Tuesday night.

Wednesday

August 12th Shopping Appointment

When:Aug. 12
04:00 pm

Thursday we have shopping appointments from 10-11, 1pm to 2pm and 2:30 to 3:30.  All other appointment spots have been filled.  You can choose one of these spots by going to Thursday on our online schedule here. Thursday's schedule

Thursday evening we have our monthly Planner Class that is held virtually.  If you have signed up for this class, you can pick up your class kit Wednesday afternoon after 1pm.

Friday we have shopping appointments available 10-11, 11:30-12:30, 1-2, 2:30-3:30, 4-5, and 5:30-6:30.  You can book one of these slots by going to Friday on our online schedule here: Friday's Schedule
Friday night we also have our weekly virtual crop.  The link is always posted on Friday afternoon on our facebook page for easy access.  It's a free crop where folks just log in and hang out and craft the evening away from 7pm to 11pm.  Hope you can join us.

Saturday we have a full day of shopping appointment available as well.  We have 10-11, 11:30-12:30, 1-2, 2:30-3:30 and 4-5.  Those appointments can be booked by going to Saturday on our online schedule here: Saturday's Schedule

Sunday we have our 2nd Session of the Bible Study/Faith Art Journaling Class in the Max Lucado book, Anxious for Nothing.  The link for this class will be sent out on Saturday evening to those who have signed up.  The link will not be live until 15 minutes before the class starts.

For those that took part in our Sizzix Machine sale a few weeks ago, you will be notified when your machine arrives.  They are coming on a semi and I am waiting to hear from Sizzix when that truck is scheduled to arrive and unload the pallets of machines at our store.

Our Huge Spring Crop/Retreat couldn't happen due to the shelter in place and we had hoped we would be able to have it in the fall at the Community Center but the City of Edmond is not allowing any group functions to be held in their facility for the rest of 2020 so we have done the next best thing.  We have worked with several vendors and we are taking this event ONLINE.  It is a 10 day online event.  We scheduled it this way so that more people can join in the fun.  You don't have to be online the entire time but you are more than welcome to be.  Each day there will be new activities and classes and demos posted throughout the day and you can watch them at your leisure.   You will have a private link to access the private group that is good only for yourself to access and it will be tons of fun!  You will still be able to see the other participants (if they are online at the same time you are).  You can still sign up using this link: Touch of Magic Take 2 Sign Up

I hope you truly have a blessed week.  Hope to see you soon!

There are only a limited number of kits available per month.  They will be numbered and sold on a first come, first served basis.  Only one kit per person, per month.  Kits can be reserved by going to our website under EVENTS. Kits must be picked up at the store (kits will not be mailed). Participants will create a double page layout using the supplies in the kit (photos are optional).  Supplies other than those included in the kit may be used on the layout, but must be kept to a minimum.  Left over supplies from the kit should not be returned.

Layouts will be submitted for judging.  Judging will be done by customers.  Judging will take place in the store and on Paper Art’s Show and Tell Page on Facebook…this page will be created shortly.  The winner of the contest will receive a $50.00 PA gift certificate.

Participants will receive their layout back after judging is complete.  Layouts must be picked up at the store within 30 days after the end of the contest.

Kits will go on sale the first part of the month.  Layouts must be turned in by the middle of the month.  Judging will take place from the middle to the end of the month.  The winner will be announced as soon as judging is complete.  The specific time frame for the contest is listed on the release form.

Paper Arts Store Update Week of July 8th...new appointments and new product

The first half of 2020 is already gone and I don't know if that is a good thing or a bad thing?  I mean, let's face it, it has been a rough 6 months in this crazy world for everybody in some state or form.  We have all had to be a bit more flexible than we are used to and that has turned in to a positive thing, I feel.  It's good to get out of the old habits sometimes and do something a bit different, even if it feels odd.

For instance the shopping by appointment here in the store.  The higher the numbers skyrocket, the more I am convinced that this is what a good portion of our retail world is going to look like for at least the rest of the summer.  So, as much as some may not like it, it is for the safety of everybody that I am going to say that the rest of July and August is going to be by appointment only.  Appointments can be made on our website and/or by emailing us.  I know some of you have just shown up and been disappointed because our appointment slots are already full and we have no openings and I am truly sorry but safety is the #1 priority throughout all of this.  Having said that....

I was supposed to go to a Retail Success Summit trip (think bootcamp for retail owners) in Michigan July 12 through the 16th that I had won last year at Market. (I mean who wouldn't want to go on a free trip to get better at what they do for a living on somebody else's dime to a state and part of the country you had never visited?)...ANYWAY, since the Pandemic hit, they have moved it online to a virtual event, so my day time hours will be used for that during that week, so I thought "why not offer evening hours a few nights that week?" Just click the link and you can sign up for one of these times or you can go to our website and find available appointment times on the Calendar of Events.

Other fun things going at the store currently include:
Classes are remaining virtual throughout the rest of the year and we still have some fun ones left in July (the August ones will be published next week).

We have the Fancy Four Layouts Class on July 21 from 6:30 to 8:30
In this class we will create 4 single page layouts (they can easily be put together to make 2 double page layouts) but these layouts will be worthy of framing (and we do carry 12x12 frames at the store for such an instance).  Each layout will have layers and embellishments and lots of room for additional items but we are going to make them as almost little pieces of art.  The picture is just a sneak peek sampling of one of the layouts.  You can sign up here: Fancy Four Layouts

Julie Nutting Card Class July 26 2pm to 4:30
We are going to create 4 different Julie Nutting cards in this class.  You can then either use them on your scrapbook pages or to send or collect.  Pictures will be posted closer to the event.  These cards will be over the top extravagant with lots of oohs and aahs to them.

and lots more........

There will be an important Facebook Live event on Sunday, July 12th from 7:30 to 8:30 to talk about a lot "store stuff" and you will not want to miss it.  Mark your calendar and plan on joining us for the State of the Store Address.
