Reopening info, new product and more (as of May 26) at Paper Arts

If you have seen the video on Facebook, you know that we will be reopening by appointment
on Wednesday, June 3rd.  Each appointment slot will be 1 hour in length (if you feel you will
need more than 1 hour, you can definitely request 2 hour slots).  To allow for proper social distancing
at all times and for each person to be able to browse the store during their time slot easier I am only
allowing 2 people per time slot.   I am requesting that when you arrive for your appointment that you
wear a mask (covering your mouth and nose) at all times while in the store.  I will also have a hand
sanitizer station set up at the front door that I am asking that each person use before they start shopping
.  I have set the appointments so that I have time between each appointment to sanitize the flat areas
and such between each one (so they are just not all on the hour).  Please note during this time that the
bathroom is not available for use.  To receive an appointment, you will need to email in and then I will
send you an appointment confirmation email that you will need to respond to indicating that you have received it and agree to it.

I will be making appointments on a weekly basis (so next week's email will have the available
timeslots in it as well).  Remember our days of operations are Wednesday through Sunday.
I will be completely OFFLINE on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Available appointments left for week of June 3 through June 7:
Wednesday, June 3
11:30 to 12:30  (1 spot left)
2:30 to 3:30 (1 spot left)
4pm to 5pm (2 spots left)

Thursday, June 4
11:30 to 12:30 (1 spot left)
1pm to 2pm (2 spots left)
3pm to 4pm (1 spot left)

Friday, June 5
11:30 to 12:30 (2 spots)
1pm to 2pm (2 spots)
2:30 to 3:30 (1 spot)
4pm to 5pm (1 spot)

Saturday, June 6
10am to 11am (2 spots)
11:30 to 12:30 (2 spots)
1pm to 2pm (2 spots)
2:30 to 3:30 (2 spots)

Sunday, June 7th
12pm to 1pm (1 spot)

During this time of adjustment and reopening, we will be doing curbside pickup as well as shipping
still.  The Warden & I are still not convinced of the safety of reopening but hopefully we can mitigate
things as best as we can and through the help of each of you by following the safety guidelines and
parameters we have established for the store, we can all remain healthy.

For the rest of 2020, all of our classes will be held online due to the space we have in the store and the inability to properly socially distance safely.  Currently we are using zoom technology and it is super easy for you, the student, to log in.  The night before the class I will send an email out that has the link for login and the password (I don't send it out earlier because then it allows for time to get deleted or lost in your email).  When it is time for class the next day, you simply click the link, enter the password (when indicated) and watch and follow along with the class and your kit.  You can see me (and watch as I create the project), and I can see you and if you are having problems, I can easily guide you on how to fix the issue.  Students have said that they prefer classes this way because whereas before (in person in store classes) I would just verbally walk you through the project and show you the finished project, now you can see me create the project from start to finish right along with you.  Also, because each person can mute themselves (for instance when they take a phone call), it is easier for everybody to concentrate and hear the instructions.

Now that the store is reopening next week, you will need to arrange to pickup your class kits or let me know if you are going to need them shipped and I will send you a shipping invoice.  While the store was closed, I gladly delivered class kits to front porches all over the metro area (just to give myself something to do and to get a chance to get out of the house).  It was great fun seeing where folks lived.  However, now that we are reopening, I will no longer have time to do that.

 A few other things:
The Disney Crop/Retreat that was originally scheduled for the first weekend of May at the Edmond Community Center will be rescheduled once the city is able to get reopened and I can meet with the building coordinator to get a new date (likely in the fall).  Everybody that had reservations and/or paid for it will be moved to the new date.  The area that this event is held in is massive and since everybody has their own table, it will be easy to socially distance at this event.  So I will let everybody know when the event has a new date.  Thank you for your patience as this was completely out of my control.

I know that a few packages have been lost in the mail over the past several weeks.  I have had a few returned to me totally mutilated and undeliverable even after several weeks.  I have been trying to get these back out as soon as possible once I have repulled or insured that the product is complete and in good condition.  I also know that I am a slow shipper because of the state of the store and the sheer number of orders.  Let me explain what I mean by that.  The first week of shut down I had no orders So I thought it would be a good time to tear the store apart and start a remodel/deep clean. So product was placed in piles or put in boxes so that I could easily move it, displays were moved here and there, etc...some product was placed in neat piles (with 3 or 4 collections on top of each other with the intention of it going to a new area) on the floor.  Then, imagine my surprise when the orders started flowing in (gratefully!).  So I have been rummaging through piles, which in turn made bigger messes, to find product and such.  Pulling an order is at least a 30 to 45 minute process or more.  So putting the store back together is my key focus during these last few days before reopening.  So yes, I know that normally I would be able to pull an order in a matter of minutes because I would know right where something was, that has not been the case the past several weeks because of the disarray.  I appreciate your patience during this shipping time and can't wait to get folks back in the store! We are always collection socks for the Sox of Love project.  So if you have any socks, please feel free to bring them up to the store.  This is an ongoing project that we are involved in throughout the year.

State of the Store--Paper Arts Update 4/28/2020

Hello friends,

This is just going to be a quick email to give you an update on the state of the store, what the plans are going forward for the next month, etc...

Although our government officials are trying to get the state reopened, The Warden &  I are not convinced that this is a safe and healthy move for me and my store at this time.  Being of the immunocompromised group, I cannot safely and in good conscience move forward with reopening the store for business as usual right now.

What does that mean?

For the month of May, I am going to continue to operate the way we have operated since March 20th.  I will still be shipping orders out, you are more than welcome to pick up an order next door from my neighbors (the CBD store next door since they are essential) IF the order is prepaid and I know which day you want to pick it up so I can have it over there, I will occassionally be surprising some local customers with porch deliveries, and we will continue to operate in this manner through the month of May.  I know many of you want to get back in the store and shop and I would love nothing more than to have you do so, however, I just don't think that this is safe AND looking at the guidelines set forth by the Oklahoma Department of Commerce and after having a lengthy phone conversation with them yesterday to clarify the guidelines on how a retail store is to operate if they are going to reopen right now, it would be a grueling undertaking for me to try to allow it.

Classes will still be taught virtually, as they are going well and the feedback has been quite positive on these.  In fact, we have several classes coming up in the next few weeks that I would encourage you to go out to our website and check out because some of them are ones that many of you have requested.

I miss all of you and truly cannot wait until we can get together again SAFELY and hug and laugh and just hang out.  But, in my opinion, that time is NOT now.  We will re-evaluate things as the month moves on and I will send out any updates to this current status as needed.

For the latest in updates and store news, follow our facebook page. www.facebook.com/paperartsedmond (you can read it even if you are not on facebook) by clicking the link in a browser.

Happy Easter & Beyond at Paper Arts

Happy Easter weekend friends.  I hope you are doing well.  Today I taught our first virtual class, got some of the "oopsies" out of the way and everybody had good feedback so I am confident that future virtual classes will be as smooth, if not smoother and I am happily adding more as I go.  In fact, in this email, you will find information about a couple new ones being added to the list

Here are a few of the other things going on with the store during this time of Shelter in Place.

I am shipping items as quickly as I can.  Unfortunately there was a slight delay in getting things shipped at first because I had to wait for boxes and packing supplies to be delivered.  But now that I have a system in place for easily pulling orders and getting them packaged, it is starting to speed up.  So if you are waiting on a package, it should be coming momentarily.

I am starting to get caught up on sending invoices.  Again, a learning curve as to the best way to get it all organized and in one place since folks were sending in requests via facebook messages, email, text messaging and via the website.  I now have a better way to get it organized and make sure that I have everybody's complete orders taken in to account.

I do know that the website was having a few issues with larger orders and there is a helpdesk ticket in to fix that.  Also, after the middle of this coming week, you should see almost all of the current items that don't have photos be updated with photos and better descriptions as I am working hard to get it all updated and synced properly.

Finally, I am gladly shipping any orders or items that you need, however, I cannot allow store pickup legally.  The store must remained closed to customers, otherwise I risk a $1,000 fine.  The CBD store next door to me has kindly offered to be a pickup location for orders on the same day but they cannot hold orders or collect money for orders so all orders have to be prepaid and I have to know when you are coming to pick them up.

NEW PRODUCT!

We have added quite a bit of new product lately.  I showed 6 new collections in this video here:  https://www.facebook.com/paperartsedmond/videos/846210572560609/

I'm also taking orders for this card kit using the new Authentique Hooray Kit.  This kit will come with everything you need to complete these 12 cards except basic supplies (glue, foam dimensionals, brown ink if you choose to ink your edges).  I am creating these kits as they are ordered so please allow 2-3 days for completion before shipping happens.

ANNUAL GARAGE SALE

It’s time to organize!!  Do you find yourself wondering what you’re going to do with all that stuff you’ll never use?  Maybe you’ve used it a couple times and you’re done  with it.  We have the solution for you.  Sell it at our Scrapbook Garage Sale.

Call to sign up as a seller at the garage sale.  You’ll be assigned a code to use on your price tags…that’s right, you price it at whatever you want.  We will collect $5 registration fee (to offset advertising we are doing for the sale) when you sign up for your code.  On the sale day, you don’t even have to be here to sell the item.  We’ll have staff here to sell it for you.  After the sale is complete, you will receive store credit for 90% of all the items you sold during the sale (10% will be kept for administration purposes).  We will limit the number of sellers to ensure a smooth set-up and organized sale, so please sign up only if you’re sure and do so early to reserve your spot.  If you have any items left over after the sale, you can pick them up afterward, or leave them for us to donate to a local organization (school, hospital, senior center, etc..) who can benefit from them.  Here are the details:

Feb. 1st:  Registration Opens  You can call the store to reserve a seller spot but it is not reserved until you’ve paid the registration fee.  Sellers will pay the $5 registration fee when signing up for their spot.

Feb. 24th - March 3rd :  Start bringing your items in for check-in.

March 6th:  Sale starts at noon!!

March 7th: Sale starts at 10am!!

March 11th:  Must have all items picked up that did not sell by this date.  Otherwise they will be donated on May 21.

March 12th:  Store Credits will be available to all sellers who participated and sold items in the sale.  Gift cards must be used within 6 months of issue.

The fine print:

Paper Arts is not responsible for items lost or stolen during the sale, however, we do our best to deter theft.  TO minimize loss, please make sure all of your items are packaged labeled well.  We often see price tags fall off, and have to make judgment calls on whether or not to sell an item.  We will not make adjustments after an item has sold.  Please make sure yours are secure and items that go together are secured together (we recommend using a Sharpie/Slick Writer directly on a bag, a strong adhesive label, or put your price tag inside the package) and has no chance of falling off.  Please avoid bringing individual papers and sticker sheets, or any other items not in a package, as they tend to get damaged during the sale, as well as extend the time at checkout.  We ask that you group products together in sealed bags or containers, clearly labeled with the contents (if not visible), legible seller code and price.  If you need to cancel your seller spot in the sale, you must do so at least one week in advance to receive store credit for your registration fee.  Registration fee is not refundable if cancellation is made within a week of the sale.

Regular store shopping will not be allowed during this time.

As a courtesy to other shoppers, please do not bring in purses, or other items with personal belongings in them during the sale.  You may bring an empty tote bag or box with which to shop, though.

Then, we will spend the day creating our own Majestic Bison.  Just like the beautiful Spirit Bison that dot our amazing downtown OKC, this class will allow you to create a Majestic Bison of your own, while teaching you how to create lots of other sculptures from the PowerTex products.

Making a stone art sculpture allows complete freedom of expression in creating wonderful figures that have their own individuality and presence. Cheryl will show you how to construct a wire armature that is ‘mummified’ and then modeled with air-dried clay by mixing Powertex as well as mixing with Stone Art and 3DFlex. Stone Art is a kind of Paper Mache specially developed for Powertex where 3DFlex is more a clay. Cheryl will guide you step by step to transform your armature into a majestic Bison. Whether you are a beginner or advanced artist, you’ll love this Workshop!

This class will last from 10am to 5pm and include a one hour break for lunch.

Reserve your spot today for this weekend.  I promise you won't be disappointed.  Cost for the entire weekend is $250* (includes food, gifts, classes, chair massages, and lots of fun and laughter).

Be my Valentine this year!

Scrap, Glitter, and Smile!

*individual classes can be enrolled in for seperate fees (see store for those details).

Out with 2015 and in with 2016.....

As 2015 comes to a close, I look back and (I think I can speak for Nancy on this also), to say that we have had a blessed year.  Not only has 2015 brought with it expanded inventory selection and new ownership of Paper Arts, but we have increased our crop area and brought in several guest designers that are experts in their field to share with our local friends here.  But, as much fun as 2015 was, we have even bigger plans for 2016 and we cannot wait to share them with you as the new year unfolds.

However, we have a few more things left for 2015.....

Saturday, December 26th, we are hosting our first annual Boxing Day Sale!
Bring in ANY empty box, fill it with product that you want to buy...then when you get to the register you will draw a ticket and receive anywhere from 20% to 45% off the entire BOX!
(Not valid on hold tickets or special orders.)

Our hours for our Boxing Day Sale will be 10am to 5pm.

Bible Journaling
